A Holistic Strategy for a Unified Movement
The partnership with BankBlackUSA was through Instrument’s Build. Grow. Serve program, dedicating pro bono design, strategy, and development work to nonprofit organizations focused on the amplification of marginalized voices, fighting systemic racism, and the pursuit of a more just and inclusive future. As an independent, grassroots organization, the BankBlackUSA mission is to promote financial advocacy in Black communities and build upon the work of past generations to level the playing field and close the racial wealth gap.
It was incredibly rewarding to be part of this project, in addition to embracing Instrument’s work culture, work without walls. My scope was to provide strategic guidance for BankBlackUSA’s digital ecosystem and its content to launch in tandem with the rebrand and redesign of the organization's website.
The solution encompassed a redesign of the BankBlackUSA website on Wordpress which the organization could confidently author, elevating the brand with consistent visuals, voice, and tone, and a user-friendly strategy playbook that supported the brand through impactful storytelling.

Approach + Methods
As UX Stategist. I took a holistic view of their digital ecosystem—defining the role that each of their channels play, providing best practices informed by a competitive landscape audit, stakeholder interviews, and offering considerations for the types of content they could create to achieve their goals.
To support BankBlackUSA’s long-term ambitions, visual designers created an expansive design library to achieve consistency in their future work. From plug-and-play social assets to a robust set of brand guidelines, the design library provided BankBlackUSA with a strong foundation to build from as they grow and move foward in their mission.
